Health Science

This course introduces 8th grade students to Therapeutic Services, Anatomy and Physiology, and a range of healthcare careers. It focuses on safety, communication, and core healthcare skills, offering hands-on practice, projects, and collaboration to explore health, wellness, and preventive care. Students will also join HOSA, gaining opportunities for leadership, skill development, and competing at the State Leadership Conference. Learn more at georgiahosa.org/state-leadership.

In addition to preparing for HOSA SLC, the class will also focus on the 8th grade Health Science Learning Objectives:

• MSHS8-HS-4: Students will assess the career pathways available in the nursing field.
• MSHS8-HS-5: Students will evaluate careers available in the field of medicine.
• MSHS8-HS-7: Students will explore the five healthcare career clusters/pathways developed by NCHSTE (National Consortium on Health Science and Technology Education).
• MSHS8-HS-6: Students will differentiate careers available in the field of health informatics/healthcare information systems.
• MSHS8-HS-2: Students will effectively communicate orally and in writing, applying knowledge of healthcare science communications.
